Ah! What an exquisite fruit the strawberry is! Strawberry jam is a big favourite, but sugar kills it. The addition of passion fruit gives it back the freshness of beautiful summer days.
Louis-Jacques Bleau, Les Cavistes-WineSpectator Award sommelier since 2014, describes this spread as follows:
Frank nose of passion fruit with subtle aromas of strawberries.
On the palate it is the opposite, the passion fruit gives way to the strawberry and is not too far behind. It is there to support it and gives a length in the mouth to the flavor of the strawberry.
The jam has a very nice length in the mouth and the passion fruit overtakes the strawberry aroma over time at the end. Looks like the two fruits are having a relay race.
Food pairing suggestion: baguette still warm.
